About Matthew Martin

San Francisco's Leading Icon Impersonator

Matthew Martin is a native San Franciscan performer, actor, singer, and dancer who has been bringing Hollywood's greatest legends back to life on Bay Area stages for decades.
From Bette Davis and Joan Crawford to Judy Garland and Katharine Hepburn, Matthew's performances have included starring roles as Margo Channing in a musical version of All About Eve, Blanche Devereaux in the beloved annual production of The Golden Girls Live: The Christmas Episodes, and countless cabaret shows celebrating vintage Hollywood glamour. Matthew's love affair with Old Hollywood began at age ten, when he sat transfixed watching All About Eve on television, recording the sophisticated dialogue he only half understood. He made collages from vintage movie magazines featuring Judy Garland and Barbara Stanwyck—art that would later become all the characters he'd portray.
Trained in singing, dancing, and theater at St. Ignatius College Preparatory and San Francisco State University, Matthew has built a career honoring the legends who inspired him while creating art that celebrates queer history and culture. Matthew Martin's Monthly is a love letter to the icons who shaped LGBTQ+ history and culture. Each month features images curated by Matthew, transforming into different legends, blending vintage glamour with contemporary drag artistry.
